With over 2,400 members, Local 2187 wields significant collective power. The right to vote for our leaders is fundamental, ensuring that our Local remains under the stewardship of competent and communicative leaders. Voting empowers members to hold their leaders accountable.
The CRL slate believes deeply in this collective strength. We are committed to maintaining transparency and providing bold leadership that reflects the will and needs of our membership.
The Local 2187 Executive Board is entrusted with overseeing the official business of our union. This board is responsible for advocating on behalf of members and approving all business decisions made by the Local. Executive Board members represent our members at the highest levels, regularly meeting with commissioners and management to improve our workplace conditions.
The Executive Board also plays a critical role in supporting and holding union officers accountable, ensuring that the service provided to our members is both honest and competent.
The CRL slate has assembled a team of experienced union leaders who are deeply passionate about our Local and its members. Our slate includes leaders from a diverse range of city departments, ensuring that the voices of members across all departments are heard and represented.
Delegates play crucial and powerful roles in union governance. While their responsibilities may vary, their primary function is to serve as Local 2187’s representatives in the AFSCME District Council 47 delegate assembly. This assembly is responsible for electing officers and trustees to the District Council and plays a key role in making political endorsements. It is essential that we select delegates who will boldly represent our Local’s interests and vote for strong leadership within our District Council. Strong leadership at the District Council level is particularly important to Local 2187, as the DC47 President serves as our chief negotiator for City contracts that directly impact our wages and benefits.
The CRL slate has consistently put forward a delegate slate that is truly representative of the diverse identities and city departments within our Local. A diverse slate ensures that all voices are heard at the highest levels of District Council 47.
The Local 2187 constitution upholds the sanctity of our members' dues, which are vital for maintaining our collective power. Trustees are elected to ensure that the Local’s finances remain strong and comply with the regulations set by AFSCME International. These trustees are responsible for regularly reviewing the Local’s finances and approving financial audits conducted by a certified public accountant.
The CRL slate has put forward three experienced trustees who can be trusted to secure the financial health of our Local for many years to come.
